Developing new products, while keeping the traditional taste

It is said that uiro was already being created in Nagoya by the middle of the Edo period. Aoyagi Uiro, established in 1879, expanded the recognition of Nagoya uiro nationwide by selling uiro from a stall in Nagoya Station. The shop is also well-known for having developed bite size uiro. In recent years, the shop have developed a new product, "Aoyagi uiro for athletes", a most unexpected product. By focusing on the fact that it is easy to eat, low in fat and has a high moisture content, and by adding salt to it, this new product has been developed as an energy supplement for athletes. It certainly seems to be going down well at triathlon events and marathon races.
