The waters of Sagami Bay, sparkling in the sunlight. The sea which stretches from the Manazuru Peninsula to the Miura Peninsula is capable of assuming a wide variety of different expressions. Part of the coastline is a bustling bathing area in summer, and large numbers of boats come and go near the fishing port, so this is a place where you can really feel the energy of the seafood industry, as represented for example by fixed shore net fishing which is well known all over the country. Sagami Bay has been a much-loved place of great scenic beauty since the days when Odawara was a post town along the Tokaido highway. On fine days you can see the Izu, Boso and Miura Peninsulas, and a stroll in the sea breeze is guaranteed to prove most refreshing.
