After getting off the bus, you walk along the river upstream for about 30 minutes. What appears before your eyes next is a suspension bridge which stretches from side to side over a lake of emerald green. Commonly known as the "Dream Suspension Bridge", this bridge has a simple construction consisting of two narrow planks joined together, and is a truly thrilling experience. The lake which spreads out below your feet is an artificial feature formed by the Oma Dam, and the beautiful contrast between it and the seasonal mountain landscape is guaranteed to refresh your spirits. Crossing the suspension bridge and climbing the slope on the other side, you will come to an observation deck from which you can take in the lake and Sumata valley, which wear many faces and colors depending on the angle you view them from.

Follow the Sumata Gorge Promenade from the bus stop. It is about 20 minutes on foot to the entrance to the Oma Dam (which is also a Sumata Gorge highlight), and about another 8 minutes to the Dream Suspension Bridge. There is a long, steep slope on the other side of the suspension bridge. People who don't fancy the climb can stay on this side and carry on to the Hiryu Bridge, from which they will be able to enjoy superb views of the valley and the suspension bridge.
