The optimum viewing time: the moment when the summit of Mt. Fuji eclipses the sun. Most people who witness this spectacle gasp and quietly put their hands together before the divine luster which spreads in all directions like a diamond. Among all the many places from which to view Mt. Fuji, Lake Tanuki, the diamond of Fuji reflected on whose surface creates a double-diamond, ranks as one of the most popular spots. Photographers from all over Japan seek out this place in order to take shots of Mt. Fuji and the lake without any man-made obstructions.
※ Views like the one shown in the photo can only be seen under certain conditions (time of day, weather etc.).
The double-diamond Fuji cannot be seen unless various conditions are met. It can be seen at Lake Tanuki, twice a year early in the morning around April 20th and August 20th. The avenue in front of Kyukamura Fuji is known for being a great viewing spot. The place is crowded with people from all over the country by 5 a.m., so an early visit is recommended.
